The show has played in theaters and at festivals and conventions across the country to great acclaim for over 12 years, and the show is always being updated with new and uproarious songs and comedy routines.  This family-friendly show appeals to all ages, and is very popular with fans of musical theater and clever comedy as Joan discloses the secrets of the amazing world of chocolate through an array of Broadway show tunes and pop song parodies. She entices the audience with her wonderful skill of quick character change (from squeaky utterances to Texas drawl) and her beautiful singing voice. Performed by a polished professional, the show was held over for an astonishing 21 weeks at the Portland Art Museum’s Commandery Theater, and played for another 10 weeks at the Northwest’s beautiful World Trade Center Theater

Performer, Playwright and Co-Producer Joan Freed is a Portland area actress who has appeared in a variety of local productions, including Brigadoon, Irene, The Boyfriend, Oliver!, Follies, Kiss Me Kate (Lakewood Theatre Company); Funny Girl, Camelot, Of Thee I Sing, Gigi (Musical Theatre Company); Little Shop of Horrors, Bye Bye Birdie, Snow White, Dames at Sea (Broadway Rose Theatre Company); The Pirate Show (Really BIG Dance Company); 1941 Christmas From Home (Tapestry Theatre); and Anne of Green Gables (Oregon Children’s Theatre.) Most recently, Joan appeared as the Iowa Housewife in the smash hit, Menopause the Musical, which ran for nearly one year and 300 performances at the Winningstad Theatre, the longest running show ever at the Portland Center for the Performing Arts.
