Becky Hobbs, the songwriter for songs recorded by Alabama, Conway Twitty, Glenn Campbell and George Jones, performs with country legends Leona Williams and Ava Barber In the Royal Ladies of Country Music Show. Having recently completed a three-year engagement for their show, The Grand Ladies Of Country, at the God & Country Theatre in Branson, Missouri, Leona Williams and Ava Barber are bringing the music of that show to communities throughout the country. Audiences that saw or heard about their Branson shows will now be entertained in their own community by these country music legends singing the songs that made them famous.
Becky has performed in over 40 countries, including nine in Africa. Her songs have been recorded by Alabama, Conway Twitty (I Want To Know You Before We Make Love went to #1), George Jones, Loretta Lynn, Emmylou Harris, Glen Campbell, Wanda Jackson, John Anderson, Janie Fricke, Lacy J Dalton, Moe Bandy, Shelly West, Helen Reddy, Shirley Bassey, Jane Oliver, Ken Mellons, and others. She is the co-writer of Alabama’s hit, “Angels Among Us,” which has been used by many charities throughout the world, including St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Leona teamed up with Merle Haggard for a top ten duet, The Bull and the Beaver, and a duet album, Heart to Heart. While Leona and Merle were married, she wrote some of Merle’s biggest hits including You Take Me For Granted and Someday When Things Are Good. You can hear her harmony vocals on some of Merle’s hits such as The Way I Am, The Roots Of My Raising, and Big City. Leona performed with Country Music legend Jean Shepard for three years in the Grand Ladies of Country show, and she headlined the Fall Creek Opry Show in Branson, Missouri. Leona was inducted into the Country Music Association of Texas Hall of Fame. She also received the prestigious George D. Hay Award, and she was inducted into the Missouri Country Music Hall of Fame.
Ava was the lead female country music vocalist on The Lawrence Welk Show for many years. She had two Top 20 singles on the country music charts: Waiting At The End Of Your Run and Bucket To The South; her albums have sold millions of copies worldwide. She has appeared on many popular television shows such as Nashville Now and Crook & Chase. After appearing in the Smoky Mountain Hayride Show in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, Ava performed in Branson, Missouri at the Welk Theater. She has toured with the Stars of The Lawrence Welk Show, headlined at major Nevada hotels, and made several appearances at the Grand Ole Opry.
